Nau_Bostik_Sixe_Paredes_Barcelona_2016

The city of Barcelona, which sealed the Nau Bostik warehouse in July for a few weeks, officially reopened the warehouse to the public this September. The Bostik is an old abandoned factory which was rehabilitated and managed by an artist collective – Difusor. Located in the peripheral area of Barcelona, in the neighborhood of La Sagrera, it is a point of cultural and neighborhood revitalization essential to the life of the district and the city.

At the end of July, I was invited by the Difusor collective to paint in the warehouse and help in their goal of spreading culture and art through the community. The mural, from my “Naturaleza Viva” (“Living Nature”) series, was completed in conjunction with the OpenWalls project. On this occasion, the BBC was there and filmed the creation of this new work following the interview we did in my studio.

It was, without a doubt, a great pleasure to paint in this new space that is, and will remain, a reference point for art and culture in Barcelona.

Thank you to all who gave me the opportunity to live this experience: the BBC, the people from Bostik Nau and in particular the Difusor collective, with whom I have been collaborating with for a long time.

In addition, Thank you very much to Cristina Raso for these very beautiful pictures which show the mural making process and can also be found on her blog.
