“Arqueología prohibida”

This exhibition curated by Rafa Suñén brings together 7 artists: Eltono, Lilli Hartmann, Jethro Haynes, Susumu Mukai, Sixe Paredes, Luis Pérez Calvo, Will Sweeney. Each artist worked with archaeological findings that challenge the chronological line of evolution as it is presented today. The discovery of Göbekli Tepe, the strange ancient letters found in Pennsylvania, the revolutionary archaeological site of Hueyatlaco, the grotesque Zapata Track and the mysterious stone circles in Africa are just some of the many examples of such findings. Some of them challenge us, while others seem downright grotesque.

Since the beginning of archeology, creationist theorists, ufologists and other scholars have produced extensive writings on these topics, however, the detected anomalies or theories formulated against the official history of civilization has been to date dismissed as fanciful. This situation invites us to think of a set of fascinating and comic mysteries that urge us to reevaluate our origins, history and the timeline that has been presented as valid up until now.

Ruins from lost civilizations, tools dating from before the ice age, ancient technologies, artifacts that have been kept quiet or forgotten and gods from the past among other hidden findings, make up an alternative map which broadens our concept of space and time with countless inspiring theories and possibilities.

The participating artists use drawing, sculpture, model building, pottery, photography and mixed media intergenerational DNA, to reconsider our origins.
